Rosa DeLauro, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently addressed several policy concerns in a series of posts on social media. DeLauro, who was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and currently resides there, has been vocal about issues affecting families and public services.
On July 14, 2025, DeLauro criticized Republican actions regarding housing policy. She stated: “During a cost-of-living crisis, Republicans are making it harder for families to keep a roof over their heads. Gutting Housing & Urban Development resources is cruel & reckless. Watch @AppropsDems fight for our hardworking families:”.
Later that day, DeLauro commented on developments in public education policy involving the Supreme Court and former President Trump’s administration. She wrote: “With SCOTUS & President Trump’s backing, Secretary McMahon is dismantling public education. The billionaires’ children won’t be affected by this, but yours will.”
In another post on July 14, 2025, DeLauro addressed proposed cuts to energy programs by House Republicans. She stated: “House Republicans’ Energy and Water bill will eliminate programs that provide affordable energy. These cuts will hurt every state. For Connecticut, they mean higher costs and less money in your pocket. Watch @AppropsDems fight back:”
DeLauro has served as the representative for Connecticut’s 3rd District since succeeding Bruce Morrison in 1991. She graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown with a BA in 1964.
