Rosa DeLauro, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, recently shared her views on various political issues through a series of tweets. DeLauro, who succeeded Bruce Morrison in this role, is known for her outspoken opinions and advocacy on behalf of education and working families.
On May 20, 2025, DeLauro criticized Republican actions regarding tax legislation. She expressed disapproval over what she described as a covert legislative maneuver: “Republicans have managed to find rock bottom’s basement. They’re so ashamed of their tax scam that they decided to hold a vote in the dead of the night.” She accused them of attempting to pass a “pro-billionaire scheme” without public scrutiny and emphasized her vigilance in monitoring these developments.
The following day, May 21, 2025, DeLauro addressed proposed cuts to public education funding. She warned against such measures with the tweet: “Eliminating public education won’t help students. Firing half the staff and slashing billions in public school funding will only hurt kids, teachers, and working families.” She invited constituents to join an event hosted by @AppropsDems aimed at defending educational resources for children.
Later that same day, DeLauro commented on an unspecified falsehood being exposed with a succinct message: “At least someone caught that lie.”
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there today. She completed her undergraduate studies at Marymount College in Tarrytown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964.
