Rosa DeLauro, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, used her social media platform on September 2, 2025, to criticize recent federal decisions and policies she claims are negatively impacting Connecticut residents and families nationwide.
In a post made at 18:18 UTC, DeLauro commented on the Trump administration’s actions regarding a local energy project: “The Trump administration’s decision to halt Revolution Wind— which is 80% complete— is nonsensical. This reckless move increases electric bills for CT residents, while taking away hundreds of good paying jobs from workers. I stand with @GovNedLamont in fighting this absurd”. The Revolution Wind project was intended to supply renewable energy to Connecticut and Rhode Island.
Later that evening at 19:53 UTC, DeLauro addressed economic pressures faced by families as schools reopened: “Now that school’s back in session, families are feeling the pinch. Trump’s reckless tariffs & failure to tackle the cost-of-living crisis have made back-to-school shopping more expensive. Parents shouldn’t have to pay more to give their kids the education they deserve.”
At 21:08 UTC on the same day, DeLauro turned her attention to Republican-led spending cuts affecting medical research funding: “By defunding research for lifesaving cures, Republicans are kicking sick kids and desperate families to the curb. I won’t stand for it. Watch @appropdems fight back against Republicans’ cruel, twisted spending agenda:”
DeLauro has been an active member of Congress since replacing Bruce Morrison in 1991 and currently resides in New Haven, Connecticut.1 She was born in New Haven in 19433 and earned her undergraduate degree from Marymount College in Tarrytown in 1964.4
