Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has recently taken to social media to express her views on several political matters. In her tweets, she addresses actions by President Trump and other Republican initiatives that she believes are detrimental to American governance and society.
On June 4, 2025, DeLauro accused President Trump and OMB Director Russ Vought of violating legal protocols concerning fiscal management. She stated “President Trump & OMB Director Russ Vought have deliberately violated the law by withholding or cancelling hundreds of billions of American dollars.” Emphasizing Congress’s financial authority, she remarked that “Congress has the power of the purse, there is no debate.”
The following day, June 5, DeLauro criticized a recent funding bill related to agriculture and FDA proposed by Republicans. She expressed concern over its impact on American farmers and families: “We won’t balance the budget on the backs of those who feed America.” She noted that Democrats in appropriations are pushing back against this measure.
Later on June 5, DeLauro directed criticism at Mr. Vought regarding administrative priorities under Trump’s leadership. Her tweet read: “Mr. Vought, be honest. Waste, fraud, and abuse are not the targets of this Administration. They are your primary objectives.”
DeLauro continues to serve as a prominent voice in Congress from New Haven where she was born in 1943 and remains active in addressing national legislative issues.
