DeLauro has been a prominent figure in Congress for over three decades, having replaced Bruce Morrison in 1991. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and continues to reside there. In addition to her legislative work, DeLauro is known for her involvement with the Italian American Congressional Delegation as co-chair. She earned her BA from Marymount College in Tarrytown in 1964.
