Later that same day, DeLauro addressed actions by former President Trump, concerning the deportation of a legal American resident. She urged for accountability, stating, “President Trump is defying the courts and shredding our Constitution by deporting a legal American resident, Kilmar Abrego Garcia. We demand proof of Kilmar’s safety and return and an immediate end to the horrifying banishment of legal residents to foreign prisons.” DeLauro, who was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and still resides there, graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown in 1964 with a BA. Her legislative career and public communications often reflect her deep commitments to her constituents and American values.
