Rosa DeLauro, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has shared several updates on her social media account regarding recent activities and advocacy efforts.
On May 4, 2025, DeLauro congratulated Modern Apizza in New Haven for winning the Connecticut Pizza Capital Trail Contest. She expressed gratitude towards the State of Connecticut for organizing the contest, which aimed to showcase the state’s exceptional pizza offerings. “The people have spoken. Congrats to Modern Apizza in New Haven for winning the Connecticut Pizza Capital Trail Contest!” she wrote.
The following day, on May 5, 2025, DeLauro spoke about her discussion with Jennifer Garner and Save the Children concerning the importance of protecting programs like Head Start, SNAP, and WIC. She emphasized that cutting funding for these essential programs would adversely affect hardworking families and vulnerable communities. “Always grateful to speak with Jennifer Garner & @SavetheChildren about the critical need to protect programs like Head Start, SNAP, & WIC.” she tweeted.
Later on May 5th, DeLauro took a firm stance against proposed Republican actions targeting Head Start by joining parents and advocates to defend the program. She highlighted its role in providing children with a solid foundation for success by supporting parents and nurturing young minds. “Today, I stood with parents and advocates to call for protecting Head Start from Republican attacks.” she stated.
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven in 1943 and graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964. She continues to reside in New Haven at age 80.
