Rosa DeLauro, U.S. Congresswoman representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has recently used her social media platform to comment on healthcare policy and federal assistance programs.
On November 4, 2025, DeLauro posted a pointed critique of a political slogan, stating “MAHA actually stands for ‘Make America Hungry Again’ apparently.” Later that day, she followed up with a brief post: “Declined! https://t.co/usriNi7xdK https://t.co/J3EJwZs9Rd”.
The following day, on November 5, DeLauro addressed concerns raised by hospital leaders in Connecticut regarding the potential expiration of Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies and proposed cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. She wrote: “Hospital leaders in CT made it clear — the expiring ACA subsidies & cuts to Medicaid & Medicare will leave people uninsured & increase healthcare costs. People will come in sicker & emergency departments will overcrowd. I’m fighting for healthcare because lives are on the line.”
DeLauro’s comments reflect ongoing debates about the future of federal health programs and their impact on both patients and providers. As a long-serving member of Congress who succeeded Bruce Morrison in 1991, DeLauro has consistently advocated for increased access to healthcare. Born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1943 and currently residing there, she graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown with a BA in 1964.
