The Sacred Heart University men’s golf team finished in ninth place after 54 holes at the Shark Invitational, hosted by LIU at Nassau Country Club in Glen Head, New York, according to an April 14 announcement.

This result is significant as it reflects the team’s ability to improve its standing through strong individual performances during the tournament. The Pioneers posted a team score of 876 (+36), including a third-best round of the day with a score of 285 (+5) on Tuesday. Their earlier rounds were 295 (+15) and 296 (+16). Northern Colorado and Bryant shared first place with scores of +9.

Pablo Lacayo and Mike Rothberg led Sacred Heart, both finishing with a total score of 214 (+4) and tying for eleventh place individually. Lacayo delivered the best round for the Pioneers, shooting five-under-par (65), which moved him up thirty-five spots on the leaderboard. Rothberg maintained consistency with two consecutive rounds of seventy-two after starting with an even-par seventy.

Yu Chan Ji Lim improved fifteen positions on Tuesday to tie for forty-sixth place overall, ending with a final score of 224 (+14). Jon Bushka and Ronan Mooney completed Sacred Heart’s lineup by tying for sixty-eighth place, each posting scores of 229 (+19).

Looking ahead, Sacred Heart will compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship beginning Tuesday, April 28. The three-day event will take place at Disney’s Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Florida.
