Sacred Heart men’s golf ranks ninth after first round at Battle at Rum Pointe

Sacred Heart University men’s golf team finished the first round of the Battle at Rum Pointe in ninth place out of sixteen teams, according to a March 27 update. The tournament is being held at Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links in Berlin, Maryland.

The team recorded a score of 302, which is fourteen strokes over par. The standings are close in the middle of the leaderboard, with Sacred Heart only five strokes behind fifth place. Iona and Fairfield currently lead with scores of one-under-par 287.

Pablo Lacayo and Mike Rothberg were the top performers for Sacred Heart, both tying for fourteenth place after shooting rounds of seventy-three, one stroke over par. This marks back-to-back rounds where both players have posted identical scores.

Quin Adams and Ronan Mooney are tied for fifty-seventh on the leaderboard after each shot a seventy-eight, six over par. Sho Suzuki and Jon Bushka completed Sacred Heart’s lineup, finishing tied for sixty-sixth with rounds of seventy-nine, seven over par.

The team will conclude its participation in the tournament with round two scheduled for tomorrow morning.
