Dr. Robert Weiss is not only the founder and director of CT ENT Sinus Center, he is also a board-certified otolaryngologist who specializes in problems of the head and neck, and serves as an affiliate member of the American Institute of Balance and the American Rhinologic Society.
“Combining patient-centered care with the latest technology has helped to create a world-class experience for our patients," Weiss said. "We are proud to be one of the nation's leading in-office sinus centers to offer minimally invasive procedures to treat chronic sinusitis, including balloon sinus dilation. Our recent investment in the Fiagon image guidance system allows us to perform these procedures more efficiently with an added layer of safety."
Originally following in his father's footsteps to be an engineer, Weiss eventually found his calling in medicine and chose to take a different path in life. He is now part of seven preeminent medical associations and societies and is associated with Norwalk Hospital. He graduated summa cum laude from Adelphi University and attended Penn State College of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in his home state of New York before serving in the Air Force as a major in the Medical Corps and also as an ENT. In addition, Weiss has made several trips to Ethiopia for medical missions, where he utilizes his expertise to help remote, underserved populations.
In his time off, he enjoys outdoor activities, including cycling and skiing in the wintertime.
Under Weiss' direction, the center recently participated in trials for a drug-eluting sinus implant. In the study, the implants were successfully placed in 80 frontal sinuses, resulting in 100% implant delivery success. Researchers concluded that the steroid-releasing implants were effective in improving outcomes of frontal sinus surgery.
The center is currently engaged in another multi-center study looking at in-office sinus procedures.
“Our clinical team has grown and we are delighted to provide the services of several board-certified ENT specialists, nurse practitioners and doctorate-level audiologists," Weiss said. "We base our practice on a collaborative model to achieve the best patient outcomes and ultimate patient experience.”
