MERIDEN - Given the smoke that has settled in over the northeastern and mid-Atlantic states, due to the Canadian wildfires, the City of Meriden encourages you to monitor our local Air Quality Index (AQI) by logging on to AirNow.gov.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) encourages the use of specific strategies to reduce exposure to wildfire smoke, including:

  • >Stay indoors
  • >Reduce activity
  • >Reduce other sources of indoor air pollution
  • >Use air conditioners and filters
Protecting your lungs, through the use certain type of masks, is important. Click HERE for guidance.
