Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut's 3rd district, recently shared her perspectives on various political issues through a series of tweets. DeLauro has been in office since 1991 and continues to be an active voice in legislative matters.

On February 12, 2025, DeLauro addressed the firing of the USAID Inspector General by former President Donald Trump. She highlighted that this action followed the release of a report detailing the negative consequences of dismantling USAID, including instances where "$489 million of food grown by American farmers" was left "rotting in warehouses." She emphasized that such occurrences constitute significant waste. "Trump just fired the USAID Inspector General."

Later that day, DeLauro criticized Trump's economic policies, questioning his efforts to reduce costs since taking office. She accused him of making education more expensive for children while providing tax breaks to billionaires. In her call to action, she urged others to join her in opposition to these policies. "What has Trump done to lower costs since taking office? Not a damn thing."

In another tweet on February 12, 2025, DeLauro reminded her fellow members of Congress about their constitutional responsibilities concerning federal spending. She asserted that Congress holds the power of the purse and stated her refusal to relinquish this authority to the executive branch. "My Fellow Members of Congress: The Constitution is clear— Congress, not the executive branch, has the power of the purse."
