On February 17, 2025, DeLauro tweeted about Presidents' Day: "This Presidents’ Day, we honor the legacy of strong leadership that has shaped our nation. The best presidents led with courage, vision, & a deep commitment to the American people and the Constitution. Our future depends on leaders who uphold those values."
Later that day, she expressed concerns regarding employment at the IRS: "On top of this, they are working to fire thousands of IRS employees. This move only makes it easier for unchecked billionaires and big corporations to dodge taxes while hardworking Americans pay the price."
In another tweet posted simultaneously, DeLauro criticized Elon Musk's intentions related to taxpayer data: "“President” Musk trying to gain access to taxpayer data isn’t about ‘efficiency’—it’s about control. Billionaires take over the IRS & dodge their tax liabilities while everyday people struggle with high costs. This isn’t reform. It’s a hostile takeover."
