The Quinnipiac women’s track and field team set three new school records during competition at the UConn Dog Fight, according to an April 4 announcement.
The event marked the team’s second weekend of outdoor competition this season. The achievements highlight the team’s ongoing progress and individual athletic milestones.
Nyasia Dailey broke her own record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.61 seconds, leading a one-two finish with Izzie Anzaldo, who was just one hundredth of a second off Dailey’s previous mark. Weronika Lewna also made history by running the 3000 meters in 9:57.45, surpassing a record that had stood since April 2011 and becoming only the second Bobcat to complete that distance in under ten minutes. In relay action, Dailey teamed up with Kiera Baxter, Michelle Tota, and Anzaldo to post a time of 45.95 seconds in the 4×100 relay—the first squad from Quinnipiac to break the 46-second barrier in program history.
Other notable performances included Rachel St. Germain finishing second in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:34.61 and Tamia Chapman setting a personal best of 55.91 seconds in the 400 meters—ranking her sixth all-time for Quinnipiac in that event. Additional top-ten finishes were recorded by Ashley Carillo and Alexa Ciccone in the 3000 meters, as well as Olivia DeBellis matching her personal best pole vault height at third-best all-time for Quinnipiac.
Several athletes achieved new personal bests across various events during this meet, reflecting both depth and growth within the roster.
Looking ahead, Quinnipiac will compete next weekend at Bucknell University’s Bison Outdoor Classic—a two-day meet held in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
