Kate Gould, a first-year midfielder for the Yale women’s lacrosse team, has been named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league on Monday.
Gould contributed significantly to Yale’s recent victories at Reese Stadium. In Tuesday’s 15-9 win against Quinnipiac, she scored four goals and provided one assist. She also recorded 15 draw controls in that game, which is the highest number by a Yale player since Sky Carrasquillo achieved the same figure during a win over Columbia in April 2022.
On Saturday, Gould added two goals and seven assists in Yale’s 17-5 victory over BU. This marks the most assists in a single game by a Yale player since Hope Hanley registered eight assists against Stanford in April 2017.
Currently, Gould ranks second in the Ivy League for draw controls with 25. She is tied for third place in assists with nine and tied for fifth place in goals with nine.
Gould previously played at Nyack High School, where she was recognized as a two-time All-American. She finished her high school career second all-time in New York State Section 1 history for career assists with 216 and helped her team secure the New York State Section 1 Championship last year.
Yale is ranked No. 14 in the latest ILWomen national poll and will face No. 5 Michigan on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
