Three members of the Yale men’s fencing team competed at the NCAA Fencing Championships held over the weekend at Notre Dame, placing 12th overall in the team standings, according to a Mar. 22 announcement.
The event featured top collegiate fencers from across the country. The Bulldogs’ participation highlights their continued presence on the national stage and provides valuable experience for both returning and graduating athletes.
First-year Yonjae Kim finished ninth in foil, narrowly missing out on All-American honors. Senior Vinni Yu also fenced in foil, finishing his collegiate career with an 18th-place result. First-year David Frumgarzts represented Yale in saber and placed 15th overall.
With three seniors set to graduate this year, Yale will return more than a dozen athletes with collegiate experience next season. This depth is expected to support future performances as the program continues to develop its roster.
The team’s showing at the championships concludes their season while setting expectations for next year’s squad.
