The Yale men’s lacrosse team defeated Dartmouth 18-7 on Apr. 4, with William Sheehan leading the Bulldogs with four goals and an assist at Scully-Fahey Field. The victory marks Yale’s second consecutive win this season.
The game is significant as it improves Yale’s record to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in Ivy League play, while Dartmouth falls to 4-6 overall and remains winless in the conference. The Bulldogs showcased a balanced offense, with twelve different players scoring during the match.
Sheehan had a standout performance, including two man-up goals among his four total scores. Peter Moynihan and Dylan Blekicki each contributed two goals, while Sean Grogan added two goals and two assists. Connor Gately recorded one goal and three assists, maintaining his streak of earning at least one point in all nine games this season. Luke Michalik provided two assists along with four ground balls, and Ben Cuomo led the team with five ground balls collected.
Defensively, Patrick Pisano caused three turnovers for a team high, while goalie Ben Friedman made fifteen saves to help secure the victory. The Bulldogs’ defense was especially strong in the fourth quarter when they held Dartmouth scoreless.
Several players reached milestones during the game: Pisano, Kyler Francis, Oliver Nappi, and Flynn Leonard each scored their first collegiate goals. Moynihan has now scored in seven games this season—including five multi-goal performances—and Grogan has found the net in every game so far.
The win extends Yale’s streak against Dartmouth to seventeen consecutive victories dating back to 2009. Head Coach Andy Shay is now at 198 career wins—just two shy of reaching his 200th career victory milestone.
Looking ahead, Yale will host Harvard on Saturday, Apr. 11 at 3:30 p.m.
