The Yale men’s basketball team set a new program record for points scored in a single game, defeating SUNY Maritime 117–53 at John J. Lee Amphitheater on Tuesday evening. This victory marks the Bulldogs’ fifth consecutive win and brings their season record to 8–1.

The game saw six Yale players scoring in double figures. Riley Fox contributed 15 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Courtney Wallace also had 15 points along with three rebounds, three assists, four steals, and a block. Isaac Celiscar added 13 points and five assists; Daniel Ogunyemi recorded 12 points and nine rebounds; Jordan Brathwaite scored 12 points—all from beyond the arc—and Casey Simmons chipped in with 10 points.

Yale’s offensive surge began after SUNY Maritime closed the gap to 23-17 midway through the first half. The Bulldogs responded with back-to-back three-pointers from Brathwaite and Wallace, then finished the half on a decisive 39-9 run to lead by 36 at halftime.

The Bulldogs shot over 63 percent from the field and made half of their attempts from three-point range. They dominated inside with 60 points in the paint and outscored SUNY Maritime’s bench by a margin of more than five-to-one. All Yale players who entered the game registered at least one point.

Coach James Jones commented on the historic night: “To be a part of something and make history is great for our program and for the kids in the locker room. I’m happy that everybody scored and contributed. We have a really good basketball team, and I’m just glad to see that everyone played a part in that.”

Other notable achievements included career-high performances by several players: Wallace set personal bests in multiple categories; Celiscar has now scored double digits in four straight games; Fox reached double figures for the seventh time this season; Ogunyemi led his team with nine rebounds while posting career highs; Brathwaite hit four three-pointers en route to his own career high; Sullivan tallied personal bests across several statistics as well.

Alvin Loving notched his first collegiate basket during this matchup, finishing with seven points on perfect shooting alongside four rebounds.

This contest marked Yale’s highest point total ever as well as its largest margin of victory since November 2017 when they defeated Curry College by 65 points. It was also their first game surpassing 33 assists since at least the 2008-09 season.

Next up for Yale is a home game against Brandeis scheduled for Wednesday evening.
