The Yale men’s track and field team will begin its 2026-27 indoor season this weekend, participating in three different meets. The season is set to conclude with the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York on February 28 and March 1, followed by the NCAA Track and Field Championships at Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on March 13-14.
The Bulldogs’ roster features a wide range of athletes across various disciplines. In distance and middle distance events, seniors Tanish Chettiar, Owen Karas, Braden King, Alex Mader, Kenan Pala, and Will Sheehy are joined by juniors such as Antonio Bravo and Daegan Cutter. Sophomores like Max Bishop add depth to the lineup alongside first-year athletes including Alden Collier and Magnus Manley.
Owen Karas holds school records in the mile (3:58.37), 3000m (7:51.68), and 5000m (13:53.27). Max Bishop is seventh all-time for Yale in the 800m (1:51.11), while Daegan Cutter is tenth in the 5000m (14:17.48). Keeran Murray ranks tenth all-time for Yale in the 1000m (2:24.66).
In sprints, senior Mason Evans competes alongside captain Andrew Farr as well as several underclassmen. Farr stands eighth on Yale’s all-time list for the 60m dash with a time of 6.84 seconds.
The hurdles group includes first-years Max Englert and Aiden Martinez.
For jumps, senior Brian Di Bassinga leads after achieving second place on Yale’s all-time triple jump list with a mark of 15.29 meters; sophomore Orion Browne holds fourth place at 14.68 meters.
Senior Elliot Wessel is representing Yale in pole vault this season.
In throwing events, seniors Nolan Recker—who holds the school record in weight throw at 20.80 meters—and Jake Sun are key contributors; Sun ranks sixth on Yale’s all-time weight throw list with an effort of 18.47 meters.
First-year Zack Warren will compete for Yale in multi events.
Several current Bulldogs have contributed to top relay performances for Yale. Bishop and Karas were part of a distance medley relay that is second fastest in school history at 9:45.19; Farr was involved with both an eighth-ranked all-time performance in the 4x400m relay (3:13.91) and a tenth-ranked time for another distance medley relay squad (9:50.67).
As competition begins this weekend, these athletes will look to build upon their previous accomplishments throughout the upcoming season.
