The Yale Bulldogs women’s rowing team swept all six races against No. 9 Syracuse and Cornell at Fish Creek on April 4, retaining the Cayuga Cup with a strong performance in Saratoga Springs, New York.
The results highlight Yale’s continued success early in the spring season. The team’s first varsity eight, stroked by Tess Peake, finished ahead of both opponents to secure the cup. The Bulldogs also won races in the second and third varsity eights as well as three varsity four events.
In race details provided by the team, the third varsity eight opened with a win in 6:38.382. The first varsity eight posted a time of 6:12.804, finishing just over one second ahead of Syracuse and more than twenty seconds ahead of Cornell. The second varsity eight followed with a victory at 6:19.930. Yale’s four boats also claimed wins, including a close finish for the varsity four at 7:12.570.
Will Porter, Friends of YWC Head Coach for Yale Bulldogs Women’s Rowing, said, “We had some great racing today. I think the team did well on a short week with many changes.” According to the official website, Yale Bulldogs Women’s Rowing competes as part of NCAA Division I within both the Ivy League and Eastern Association of Women’s Rowing Colleges and is affiliated with Yale University athletics.

Looking ahead, Yale will face Dartmouth at home for the Class of 1985 Cup on Saturday, April 11.
