Yale women’s track team opens season aiming for strong showings at major championships

The Yale women’s track and field team is preparing for the start of the 2026-27 indoor season, which will begin this weekend with competitions at three different meets. The schedule includes major events such as the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track and Field Championships, to be held at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York from February 28 to March 1, and the NCAA Track and Field Championships at Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas on March 13-14.

The team features athletes across several disciplines. In distance and middle distance events, seniors like Claire Archer, Ruby Barton, Marina Carlos, Anna Chamberlin, Carmel Fitzgibbon, Linde Fonville, Cara Joyce, Miranda Lorsbach, Marisa Poe, and Charlotte Whitehurst are joined by juniors Hebe Chadwick, Priya Gangadharan, Daniella Henderson, Kalista Villatoro; sophomores Charo Heijnen, Lily Jin, Muriel Lovshin, Katie Marchand, Zoe Martonfi (also a jumper), Julie Piot and Sylvie Sanok Dufallo; as well as first-years Phoebe Benun, Zoe Carter, Sophie Polay and Adela Pela Svihalkova. Notably, Fitzgibbon holds fourth place all-time at Yale in the 800m (2:06.58) and sixth in the 500m (1:14.80), while Fonville is fifth all-time in the 1000m (2:48.09).

In sprints events, juniors Gloria Guerrier—who ranks second all-time at Yale in the 500m (1:12.21) and fourth in the 400m (55.22)—and Victoria Guerrier—Yale’s record holder in both the 500m (1:11.44) and 800m (2:03.69), as well as second all-time in the 400m (54.86)—lead a group that also includes Juliette Kosmont (school record holder in the 60m at 7.43), Sophie Spokes (tied for tenth all-time in the 200m with a time of 25.30), sophomores Elaine Hudacsko and Anjali Yella; and first-year Corinne Isaacs.

For hurdles events, senior Casia Provencal joins juniors Lucija Grd—who holds Yale’s record for the 60m hurdles at 8.43 seconds—and Lola Isom; along with sophomore Squirrel Lanz who is fourth on Yale’s all-time list for the event with a time of 8.80 seconds.

In jumps competition are senior Caroline Glessing (also a sprinter), junior Alexandra Bonn—ninth on Yale’s all-time triple jump list at 11.73 meters—sophomore Kenzie McElroy (also a sprinter); first-years Sofia Varma and Penelope Webb.

Pole vault athletes include first-years Shreya Sathiyan and Milla Signorelli.

Throwers on this year’s roster include seniors Makayla Harris—second on Yale’s weight throw list with an effort of 18.28 meters—and Charlie Williams; junior Emma Peretti—third all-time shot putter at Yale with a mark of 13.92 meters; sophomores Hannah Graham and Anna Siciliano; plus first-years Constanza Acevedo and Maya Quaranta.

In multi-events are senior captain Makayla White—tenth on Yale’s pentathlon list with a score of 3346 points—and ninth all-time for Yale in the 60m dash at 7.73 seconds; sophomore Alyssa Anderson; first-year Layni Kaase.

Several current Bulldogs have contributed to relay teams achieving top performances historically for Yale: Gloria Guerrier and Victoria Guerrier were part of school-record-setting squads including a best-ever time of 3:40.00 in the women’s indoor distance medley relay; Spokes was also involved in notable relay results such as their No.10 performance over four by four hundred meters at 3:48.56; Chamberlin, Martonfi, Sanok Dufallo and Villatoro made up a fifth-ranked four by eight hundred meter relay squad timed at 8:50.59; Fitzgibbon and Fonville participated in a distance medley relay team ranked sixth on Yale’s lists with an effort of eleven minutes thirty point zero seven seconds; while Fonville also contributed to another top ten finish for their four by eight hundred meter relay squad.
