Yale women’s tennis defeats FAU 4-3 in Boca Raton match

The Yale women’s tennis team defeated Florida Atlantic University 4-3 at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center in Boca Raton, Fla., on March 9.

The match was closely contested, with FAU taking an early lead by winning the doubles point. However, Yale responded during singles play, securing four victories to clinch the overall win. Leena Friedman sealed the victory for Yale with her singles performance.

In doubles competition, Malika Amirgaliyeva and Alexia Patru of FAU defeated Erin Ha and Angela Huang of Yale 6-3, while Malwina Rowinska and Maya Shanok of FAU overcame Shyla Aggarwal and Rachel Lee of Yale 6-2. The match between Friedman/Orly Ogilvy (Yale) and Panna Bartha/Katrin Pavkova (FAU) was left unfinished at a score of 4-4.

During singles play, Bartha (FAU) beat Ogilvy (Yale) 6-4, 6-3; Friedman (Yale) defeated Rowinska (FAU) in three sets; Werdiger (Yale) won against Amirgaliyeva (FAU); Pavkova (FAU) bested Aggarwal (Yale); Huang (Yale) triumphed over Patru (FAU); and Ha (Yale) secured a win against Shanok (FAU).

The Bulldogs are scheduled to continue their road trip with a match against Florida International University on Wednesday, March 11.
