437 coaches at institutions in New Haven County earned $76,325 on average in 2022

New Haven County’s 437 coaches earned an average salary of $76,325 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the fourth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Connecticut post-secondary schools during 2022.

New Haven County is home to seven post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Quinnipiac University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $160,217.

Male coaches of men's teams received $119,729 on average in New Haven County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $76,185.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
