Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut's 3rd district since 1991, recently shared her views on social and political issues through a series of tweets. DeLauro, who has been an advocate for education and veterans' rights, expressed concerns over current developments that she believes threaten fundamental American values.
On February 18, 2025, DeLauro questioned the future prospects of children from working-class families if they are denied access to education. She stated: "If kids from working class families don't have access to education, how will they build their future? We cannot allow unchecked billionaires to end public education. It will kill the American Dream."
Later that day, she criticized actions taken under former President Trump's administration regarding veterans' affairs. On February 18, 2025, she tweeted: "Imagine dedicating your life to serving America, only to be fired in return. Under Trump’s orders, over 1,000 staff serving veterans have been removed from the VA, threatening the care and benefits of 9 million veterans who depend on the agency for essential lifelong support."
On February 19, 2025, DeLauro reflected on historical injustices by commemorating Remembrance Day for Japanese Americans interned during World War II. She emphasized learning from history and standing against prejudice: "Today we remember the unjust internment of over 100,000 Japanese Americans during WWII. Let this Remembrance Day inspire us to fight against prejudice in all its forms. We must never be silent in the face of injustice—stand up speak out and learn from history."
