About 35.1 percent of the 2,203 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of New Haven in 2017-18 were to students in homeland security, law enforcement, firefighting and related protective services programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Haven conferred 500 bachelor's degrees and 203 master's degrees in homeland security, law enforcement, firefighting and related protective services programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in criminal justice/law enforcement administration. Data shows the school gave out 284 bachelor's degrees in criminal justice/law enforcement administration, followed by 107 bachelor's degrees in forensic science and technology and 100 master's degrees in general business administration and management.

The university enrolled 6,867 students for 2017-18, including 5,092 in undergraduate programs and 1,775 in graduate programs.
