Jeffrey Brock, the Zhao and Ji Professor of Mathematics at Yale University, has been reappointed for a second term as the dean of the Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science (SEAS). This decision was announced by President Peter Salovey, recognizing Brock's successful leadership and achievements within the school.

During his first term as dean, Brock oversaw significant developments at SEAS, including the implementation of substantial university investments and the establishment of the school as an autonomous entity with its own faculty. These investments have led to plans for hiring over 30 new faculty members and the revitalization of the school's physical infrastructure.

President Salovey highlighted Brock's efforts in expanding research and teaching opportunities within SEAS, particularly in response to the increasing demand for fields like cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Salovey noted, "For example, responding to the surge in demand for fields such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, he expanded the Computer Science department."

Additionally, Brock's focus on philanthropic initiatives has provided support for faculty members to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. The establishment of the Roberts Innovation Fund has enabled faculty to receive seed grants, mentorship, and access to entrepreneurial resources, fostering a culture of innovation within SEAS.

Salovey expressed gratitude to those who contributed feedback during Brock's reappointment review process, emphasizing the dean's commitment to fostering collaboration and strengthening ties between SEAS and various industries. Salovey stated, "I am grateful to Dean Brock for his bold vision for SEAS, his strong record of accomplishment, and his willingness to continue serving in this role."

Brock's reappointment signifies a continuation of his strategic leadership at SEAS, driving interdisciplinary research priorities and advancing the school's mission under his guidance.
