Frank Zhang, a globally recognized scholar in the field of capital markets, has been appointed the James L. Frank ’32 Professor of Accounting at Yale School of Management (SOM), effective immediately.

Zhang, who joined the SOM faculty in 2005 and was granted tenure in 2012, focuses his research on empirical capital markets. He has also contributed to other areas including taxes, GDP management, and fraud. His findings have had an influence on academics, practitioners, and regulators alike.

With more than 7,000 Google Scholar citations and a Google Scholar h-index of 27, Zhang is frequently invited to speak or discuss at conferences. He serves as an associate editor for Management Science and has been a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Accounting Research.

Zhang is regarded as a valued member of both the Yale and SOM communities. He mentors junior colleagues within his group and beyond. Additionally, he has taught various M.B.A., Executive M.B.A., and Ph.D. courses while playing a significant role in SOM’s executive education programs for Chinese audiences. Zhang has also been active in fundraising efforts for the school.

He earned his B.S. from Nankai University and both an M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
