Maurie McInnis, the President of Yale University, expressed gratitude to the university community for their warm reception over recent months. In a communication addressed to faculty, students, staff, alumni, and families worldwide, McInnis highlighted ongoing efforts to gather input from the Yale and New Haven communities. "Your input is helping me gain a deeper understanding of the people who make up the Yale and broader New Haven communities," she stated.

Emerging themes from these interactions include support for university initiatives in arts, humanities, social sciences, sciences, and engineering. The community has shown appreciation for Yale's investment in physical infrastructure that supports interdisciplinary scholarship and research tackling climate change and other challenges.

McInnis acknowledged concerns regarding national issues affecting higher education. She mentioned that "the Committee on Institutional Voice... will share its report by the end of the semester."

The President also noted new ideas aimed at enhancing academic excellence at Yale. Key areas include improving undergraduate education, strengthening ties with New Haven, and boosting operational efficiency.

To further these discussions, McInnis plans to hold additional listening sessions focusing on key topics identified by the community. These sessions aim to refine ideas for Yale’s future strategy. "Building a meaningful long-term vision... requires time to collect insight," she remarked.

Recent achievements include progress on projects like the dramatic arts building and breaking ground on the Upper Science Hill Building Complex. Notably, Yale participated significantly in Climate Week in New York City this September.

McInnis continues advocating for higher education funding while engaging with legislators and leaders from other institutions. Her outreach extends to participating in campus events such as family weekend activities and sporting events.

Encouraging further dialogue with her office, McInnis emphasized: "If you have not shared your ideas with me yet... I am excited about what we will do in the coming months."
