The Yale Center on Climate Change and Health (YCCCH) actively participated in this year's Climate Week NYC through three events focusing on the intersection of health and climate change. These events addressed crucial topics such as healthcare sector resilience, the impact of climate change on children's health globally, and promoting urban health amidst rising temperatures and extreme weather.

On September 26, an event titled "Cities on the frontline: saving lives through climate-informed health action" was held at Goals House by the Rockefeller Foundation. City leaders, climate experts, and urban planners gathered to discuss urban health challenges posed by climate change. Elizabeth Yee from the Rockefeller Foundation presented a report titled “Urban Pulse: Identifying Resilience Solutions at the Intersection of Climate, Health, and Equity.” The report was developed with input from nearly 200 city leaders across 118 cities in 52 countries. Dr. Jeannette Ickovics led this research effort. A keynote address by Celeste Saulo from the World Meteorological Organization highlighted solutions for integrating health into cities' climate resilience plans.

Another event focused on "Climate change and children's health," co-hosted by YCCCH and UNICEF. Dr. Arinze Agu emphasized young people's roles in combating climate issues during his opening remarks. Dr. Robert Dubrow shared research findings on children's vulnerabilities to climate impacts while Abheet Solomon from UNICEF discussed their recent report "A threat to progress." Discussions centered around protecting children from environmental hazards like heatwaves and floods.

On September 27, YCCCH collaborated with The New York Academy of Medicine for an event about sustainable healthcare systems—an inaugural discussion at Climate Week NYC according to Yale Daily News coverage. Keynote speaker Dr. Marina Romanello provided insights into how healthcare sectors can adapt to climate changes based on Lancet Countdown's research findings.

Panels throughout this day-long event explored various themes such as decarbonizing healthcare facilities or empowering workers against environmental challenges; philanthropic efforts were also discussed alongside innovative clinical practices aimed at reducing emissions within hospitals' operations globally.

Dr.GithinjiGitahi concluded these sessions addressing international justice concerns related specifically towards Global South regions facing disproportionate effects due largely due lack resources needed mitigate adverse consequences brought forth under changing climatic conditions worldwide today more than ever before seen history humankind itself thus far until now...
