Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district, has been actively engaging with her community and addressing pressing issues through various initiatives. Her recent activities highlight her commitment to public service and community involvement.
On January 30, 2025, DeLauro hosted a roundtable with survivors, doctors, violence interrupters, academics, and advocates focused on gun violence prevention. She emphasized that while proven solutions exist, they lack funding due to the Trump Administration's freezing of bipartisan funds. DeLauro called for collective engagement to address what she described as an epidemic.
The following day, January 31, 2025, DeLauro attended Fair Haven School’s 16th annual Snowball. She expressed her enthusiasm for celebrating the students' achievements and noted her pride in the second-grade class she adopted alongside Mayor Elicker and State Representative Paolilo. DeLauro thanked the school for allowing her participation in this event.
Later on January 31st, DeLauro celebrated Connecticut’s launch of direct file, a system allowing residents to file their taxes directly with the IRS at no cost. Joined by taxpayer advocates during this announcement, she encouraged constituents to utilize this new service.
