Rosa DeLauro, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1991, has shared several statements on social media reflecting her views on personal expression, political issues, and historical events.
On March 6, 2025, DeLauro addressed criticism she has faced regarding her appearance. She stated "I’ve been critiqued for my appearance all my life—mostly by men who wouldn’t survive 5 minutes under the same scrutiny." She emphasized her commitment to self-expression and encouraged others to do the same despite criticism.
Later that day, DeLauro criticized the actions of the Trump Administration. She claimed "The Trump Administration is stealing directly from our communities across every one of our districts." According to her post, this was in favor of tax breaks for billionaires and a significant wealth transfer from the working class to the wealthy.
On March 7, 2025, DeLauro commemorated an important civil rights event. She reminded followers that "60 years ago, peaceful civil rights demonstrators were brutally beaten in Selma, Alabama on 'Bloody Sunday.'" Highlighting their bravery which led to the Voting Rights Act's passage, she stressed the importance of protecting voting rights for all Americans.
