"A Yale College junior was awarded a 2024 Davis Projects for Peace grant, which provides funding for innovative, community-centered projects that address the world’s most critical issues," announced Nishah Jaferi. The grant aims to support projects that focus on issues such as health care, education, and human rights.

The Projects for Peace initiative was established in 2007 by Kathryn W. Davis, with a vision to promote peace through innovative projects. The grant is managed by Middlebury College in Vermont.

Jaferi, a pre-med student at Yale, will utilize the grant to launch her program, Nisa Project, a women’s health literacy initiative aimed at supporting refugee, asylum-seeking, and undocumented women in their health and resettlement journeys. Her program includes wellness courses addressing women’s health, self-advocacy, and equity, with the goal of enhancing access to essential health knowledge and services for newcomer women.

Expressing her passion for cancer immunology, women’s health equity, and community development in migrant communities, Jaferi previously founded Hello Hygienics in 2020 to provide health resources to underserved communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. At Yale, she is actively involved in cancer research and women’s health initiatives, showcasing a strong commitment to community service and advocacy.

This grant not only recognizes Jaferi's dedication to addressing critical issues but also highlights her ongoing efforts to make a positive impact in the community.
